Grant Criteria
The Fred Uhl Ball Memorial Fund for Artists in Crisis offers financial assistance to mature, creative visual artists living in the region served by the Sacramento Region Community Foundation or who have lived in such area for a substantial period of time and who have made a significant contribution to that community through his or her art and find themselves beset by emergency situations that they do not have the financial resources to meet.
Applications to the fund are evaluated by an Advisory Board whose members have been actively involved in the visual arts of this region for over a decade. The Advisory Board will exercise their discretion in evaluating the applicant’s need and contribution to the community. Qualified artists who receive funding may reapply on a yearly basis, but their application must be reviewed and assessed each time.
Funding is limited to an amount and budgetary limit determined by the Advisory Board, which must include at least one recognized visual artist living in the area served by the Sacramento Region Community Foundation who has been active in the community for at least 20 years. Applicants should note that there is a set amount appropriated for these grants in each fiscal year; once this amount has been reached the Foundation will not be able to judge any additional requests on their merits.
